If the throttle positioning sensor is faulty, will it cause the engine to completely disengage? Or will it simply result in worse gas mileage?

HI there,

Either can happen because if the TPS isn't working, the computer doesn't know what gear the transmission should be in. If it sticks in a lower gear it will affect the fuel mileage, It can also take it out of gear completely
