Does P1009 Honda show there is a timing chan issue?

I have a 2007 crv. I want to know if the check engine light will come on if there's a problem with the timing chain or tensioner.

its possible if you are hearing metal to metal noise of something like that. 

but its most likely dirty oil if you have not replaced the oil in the last 4k miles or so if you dont have any noise issues that would mean there is no engine damage. If you are due for the timing belt replacment you should also do that.

Possible causes

- Engine oil level

- Dirty engine oil

- Check VTC Strainer for blockage

- Faulty VTC Oil Control Solenoid or circuit

- Faulty VTC Actuator

- Engine mechanical problems
