Ive had issues with my car for months, ive been trying to fix the problem to no avail and im running out of options. My car is at about 144k.
At first i had an issue starting it(engine turned over), shortly after my car would turn itself off while i was driving it, and within the last few weeks it surges when i use the gas pedal.
Everything else runs fine, idols fine, sounds fine, no smells or anything weird.
Since ive had the car ive replaced the oil/filter, the battery, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel relay, spark plugs, map sensor (same funtion as mass air flow sensor) crankshaft sensor, the starter, the instrument cluster, the module and ive done a fuel system cleaning.
I am baffled. Id assume with the symptoms it must be either a fuel issue or electric but i have no idea what else to try. Also i have noticed it has more issues in the heat/after the car has warmed up. Please, any advise will help. I cant afford another car and i need this one to work.

Vehicle: 2004, Pontiac, sunfire, 2.2

P0171 Fuel trim lean Bank 1

This is fuel related if it was a vacuum leak yes it does cause a lean condition but will not stall the engine as you drive.what can surge as you drive is fuel related isssue, You may have to check for "B" codes what you will be looking for are anti- theft codes, a worn out key can set this code off. and stall at at anytime with a hard to start condition.
