PO316 for Mercury Mountaineer 2006

While driving Mercury Mountaineer it will switch gears . What is the cause for this?

I would start by using 91 octane fuel from shell and a good fuel system cleaner. if the problem is still there after a few days of driving, you can check the spark plugs and replace them if you have not done so, if the problem is still the the crankshaft sensor should be checked.

The crankshaft position sensor is under the compressor
