2004 NISSAN MAXIMA-
Last year the car would sometimes turn off and wouldn't shift.

-I REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. PROBLEM FIXED.
( I HAD A HARD TIME PUTTING THE CONNECTOR ONTO THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. MAYBE IT ISNT ON GOOD ENOUGH?)

-A FEW MONTHS AGO IT STARTED SHIFTING HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 1st. HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE.

-THE LAST FEW WEEKS ENGINE IDLE SPEED GOES WAY DOWN WHEN AT A STOP.

2 DAYS AGO the ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON: ERROR CODE P0726 AND P0441

ANY OTHER IDEAS?
THANKS!

**Sorry for caps. I didn't realize I had it on till i was 3/4 of the way threw..I figured I might as well finish it in caps.

When the transmission is shifting hard it usually means there is mechanical damage in the transmission and the gears will be damages.

The transmission will most likely have to be replaced. its a lot cheaper and safer to replace it with a used transmission than to rebuilt it. Also dont forget to flush the transmission lines out before installing the new one if there are metal shavings in the line you will damage the new one to.

P0441 is an EVAP code start be tighening the gas cap, if there are cracks on the seal replace it with a new Nissan gas cap (aftermarket ones have issues)
