This happened last spring and summer but it stopped when the outside temps got colder during winter. Now that it has warmed up, the check engine light comes on again.

Start by replace your gas cap with an orginal Ford gas cap. Its also possible there is a crack, loose or broken hose on the evap system causing the issue.
