I have 2011 Buick Lacrosse, 4 cylinder engine. About 4 weeks ago, the "check engine" light came on and the engine code was P0172. The only symptom was when turning the car off, the engine would sputter and continue to rumble for a few seconds (sounded like it was running out of gas). Today while driving home, the "check engine" light came on again and I got a warning on the dash "Decreased engine power!" I pulled over and left it running and after a few minutes, I pulled back out and about another mile down the road, the "Decreased engine power!" warning happened again and then the car died. It wouldn't restart for about 10 minutes. Finally it did and I drove home another 4 miles with no issues. The new codes are P0191 and P0300, but the P0172 code did not come up this time. Any idea what is going on?

P0172 Fuel system too rich

P0191 Fuel rail pressure sensor performance

P0300 Random misfire

When you code P0191 this is a type "A" code condition this will give you a message "Reduce Engine Power". P0172 is a "B" type code condition.which will give you a drivabilty condition with no reduce engine power.  The problem that you may have resides with the fuel pump There is a Recall or Campaign with the engine balance chain and the fuel pump what this TSB is about is the balalnce chain wearing out the fuel pump plunger and setting P0172 allowing fuel to leak into the crankcase and causing the engine run on that you have experienced. If left unrepaired engine damage will occur . TSB # 12313B.
