I got the engine code P0191 on my Ford Taurus: Could this cause the engine to surge?
Yes, check the fuel pressure
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0191 indicates the FRP sensor signal has exceeded the Self-Test Calibration limits and can only be retrieved during KOEO and KOER Self-Test. DTC P0191 (FRP) circuit fault low limit is 1.7 volts at 551 kPa (80 psi) and 3.8 volts at 930 kPa (135 psi) for the high limit. Possible causes: High pressure. Low fuel pressure. Damaged FRP sensor. Excessive resistance. Low or no fuel. Key on. Verify there is sufficient fuel (1/8 tank or greater). Key off. Fuel pressure gauge connected to Schrader valve. Key on. Is the pressure reading between 551 kPa (80 psi) and 930 kPa (135 psi)?
