I'm dealing with a 1998 Buick LeSaber 3.8L that has trouble codes p0001 and p0507. in reading about the troubleshooting it says to clear all other dtc's before dealing with p0507. the problem is I haven't found any info on what p0001 is? what is p0001 fuel volume regulator circuit/open on a 98 buick lesaber? any help would be appreciated.

P0001 Fuel volume regulator circuit
P0507 Idle control system High RPM
P0001 is the scan tool not reading correctly or the ECM not giving the information that the scan tool request. This does not mean it is not a valid code condition that you have . When a scan tool link with the vehicle DLC connector it request a stored code condition , what ever code definition is stored in the scan tool the ECM matches that code definition. Unfortunately it came out as P0001.Trouble shoot the engine symptom by using P0507 this is high RPM condition . Measure the fuel pressure this will assist if the condition is caused by fuel pressure. The Specification should be about 48-55 psi engine running, ( more than likely the fuel pressure is good). Rule out any vacuum leak that can be causing high RPM . With the engine running place you hand over the throttle body. Either 2 event will happen .The engine will stall if it stalls , vacuum leaks are not the cause of the high RPM. If the engine does not stall listen and search for the vacuum leak that is allowing the high RPM. If you have a spare IAC (idle air control) pull the plunger to a position where you reinstall the IAC with the harness of the IAC  disconnected, and reinstall the IAC  to a position where  RPM is maintained. Reconnect the IAC connection with the engine running If the RPM rises the PCM is at fault.

The P0001 code is for the Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open, but Buick doesn't use the code. Please double-check the code number or check the codes with a different scanner.
