2000 Honda Accord LX 4 Cyl with engine code P1381.

Question

Check engine light is on the code is P1381 (cylinder positioning sensor intermittent interruption) checked all connections and they're all good. How would I check the sensor itself if its good or bad and is it in the distributor?

P1381 CYP sensor intermittent interruption

Honda has produced a TSB for this code condition TSB # SN050900-02 Provided that the distributor CYP and the ECM connection are proper. Then you are to check the alternator charging system diode pattern.

1 step clear the code, unplug the 4P at the alternator. Test drive the vehicle. If P1381 comes back with the alternator 4P unplugged, you replace the distributor. If the code does not come back the alternator ripple pattern needs to be checked. The faulty diode in the alternator can set this code condition
