I have a 2000 Honda Accord (4 cylinder) with a code P1381. Currently the vehicle is running and at slow acceleration the car will get up to speed with no problem. However, when I accelerate hard the motor acts like there is a rev limiter on the motor and does not accelerate. I placed a new distributor cap rotor and spark plugs thinking this may solve the problem. After the tune up I drove the car and still had the same issues. Do you have any suggestions as what the problem may be.

Thank you in advance!

Best answer

P1381 CYP sensor interruption

There has been a TSB produced by Honda for this condition TSB #SN05900-02 ,this TSB is a tip for P1381 and P1382 ,where the shield of the ignition coil is to be inspected for its proper place, Clear the code and retest if the code came back then you were to disconnect the 4 way connector at the alternator clear the code if it did not code up P1381 the alternator was at fault. If you have P1381 and experiencing drivabilty problem check the coil expoxy area especially at the ignition tower if there is a crack there you will have the problem you are experiencing.
