2000 BMW 323ci w P0734 & P0735 codes. Reverse works fine, won't shift into higher gears

Had D-drum issue, was fixed by mechanic. Now Reverse works but in Drive, doesn't want to shift into 4th and 5th gear, tranny makes whining sound.
