Hi I have a 2007 Mitsubishi Galant 2.4L my oil light kept coming on and off and it seemed like it was low on oil and check engine light came on and the code was p1020 oil pressure switch fails and it sounds like a Mack truck If the oil pressure switch is bad will it stop the oil pump from sending oil through the engine to valve cove

How long has it been since the last oil change? if it is more than 4k miles I would replace the oil pressure sensor and the oil/filter.
