my 2000 Yukon is making a pinging sound from under the motor I still have horse power neighbor a home garage mechanic says it's the cataylacconverter, took it to a friend and ob11 code read p0300 random misfire what could it be I'm on a tight budget. thank you for you're time.

P0300 Random misfire

Random misfire letting it have its way for too long will destroy the catalytic convertor. and so with the other way around a partial restriction of the catalytic convert will set a random misfire due to back pressure. Misfire are mostly related to ignition system from sparkplug wire secondary voltage seeking ground and also worn out sparkplugs.
