What is a P1170 code for a 1996 Mazda Prelude indicate?

1996 Mazda Protege, 1.5 l engine, 5 speed. Just replaced the front O2 sensor and got through inspection. Ran OK for awhile and then starting running bad, engine slowed down and check engine came back on. Car runs rough and bucks severely in first gear and less so in second gear. does not seem to matter if the car is warm or not. OBD indicates code P1170.

Check the harness for the 02 sensor (front 02 )check for harness touching the exhaust and shorting out or being disconnected. A failed 02 sensor will not make the engine running rough P1170 can be the result of a rough running condition inspect the MAF (mass airflow) air duct for any torn that is allowing false air.
