P0191 Ford - freestyle

Question

2996 freestyle in minor accident and through the fuel cutoff switch. I reset and car is running fine but now I am getting a P0191 code. Have not really gone anywhere yet as windshield is being replaced but wondering if maybe air is in the line and will work itself out or if there is a fuel system problem> The user tried to start car after accident but fuel cutoff was in place. What do you think?

P0191 Fuel rail pressure sensor A circuit range / performance

If the fuel cut off was activated this can cause P0191,The only way you can get air in the line is if you are running out of fuel, Then yes this can set code P0191,but this is rare and cannot happen with a fuel linjection the the fuel pressure is much higher this eliminate vapor lock which can happen in carburators.Clear the code if the code return you will need to replace the fuel rail sensor, Once this code appear you can not do a fuel pressure test the code condition has to be satisfied. The way the fuel rail sensor work is it applies more voltage to the fuel pump to increase pressure as the engine load requires.
