P1710 Code 2005 Ford Freestyle

Question

The code P1710 comes up when my Dealership inspected it. Car went into safe mode. Dealership told me I need a new transmission at $6,615.00. Is this what the code P1710 means?

P1710 you have CVT transmission this one  has a mechatronic unit,, you can replace the mechatronic unit but it need to be reflashed, your result is to go mileage , the part exceed the value of the car, clear this code  it should go back to normal. and see if there any other code that would come. beside P1710. you can set this if there is communication error.
