Hi I just recently went to take my car to get smogged and it came up with a bunch of codes. I think i might be dealing with a fraudulent smog check from the person who sold me the car. Anyways, i wanted to still know what the codes meant. So it says the codes: P0342, P0341, P0113. I looked under the codes for suzuki and couldnt find any of these. So are these just common codes? because when i search them up individually, they are exactly as on the paper the mechanic gave me, but I'm wondering why the codes do not match the suzuki codes. My car is a 2004 suzuki forenza; automatic.

Vehicle: 2004, Suzuki, Forenza, 2.00 L

P0342 Camshaft postion sensor No signal

P0341 Camshaft position sensor rationality

P0113 Intake air temperature sensor high voltage

What these code are are P0XXX these are generic code that all manufacture has to comply with, At one time manufacture had their own code system and there own scan tool software  for engine code access. What the OBD 2 protacol did was standardize the system for one connection and  a set of code definition. It still has manufacture code capability and manufacture code access. For the smog check program it designed to protect the enviroment and save fuel. When the CK ENG Lt  comes on you are exceeding emmission standards in other word using more fuel than needed which result in spending more money on fuel. For the code you have P0113 this is the air intake temperature sensor when its high voltage this means the sensor has a disconnection and it is usually at the harness. or its just not connected someone may have change air filter and did not plug it in may have happenned.  As for the cam position code, Sensor do wear out these are hall - effect sensor in which they generate a signal. and just wear out do to age.By the way there is no way a smog technician can cheat a OBD 2 emission test, the smog machine is in control.
