I have a code of P1133 on my Pontiac Grand-Am 2001, 3.4 ltr engine, it was after I changed the battery. the service engine soon light was on before but showing only as Random misfire when checked by the ODB Scanner by my mechanic. But this code P1133 showed up after the batter was changed. Then I brought the car to the mechanic and the code was erased and I drove the car for over 30 kms.

With that engine light on I brought my car to the emission test and it failed showing the DTC P1133 and showing status only Catalyst Not Ready.

Then I brought the car to my mechanic and he eraised the engine light. I drove the car again over 3o km, but the service engine soon light came back on when I drove 30 km. Then I erased again the service engine soon light and drove the car for another 30 km.

and when I went to emission test my car with engine light erased the result said my car Not Ready with the 3 messages: Catalyst not ready, Evaporating System not ready and Sensor System not ready but it's not showing the DTC code number like the first emission test before. But the second emission test didn't say my car failed like the first emssion test. The emission ctr guy recommended me to drive another 30 - 50 km. But when I drove the car hitting the 30 km, the engine light came back on. Then I erased the code again and brought the car back to the emission ctr. After he checked with their scanner he said its now even showing more another 2 messages that total up to 5 red crosses of bad messages

So, what is actually the problem of my car and what is to be fixed with the car in order to get the emission test passed and the engine light gone forever ?

Thank you very much for the answer and solution.

P1133 H20S insufficient switching Bank 1 sensor 1

In order to pass the emission test monitor have to be ready, these are known as non- continous monitor, they are Catalyst, Heated 02 sensor ,EVAP, Egr system monitor,In order for these criteria to be ready a code or pending code cannot be present. When you replace a batttery certain memory in the ECM is erased, what get erased is the Long fuel trim, or even clearing the Check Engine Lt. The ECM now restart and make adjustment from its PROM. The ECM looks for opencircuit, short circuit, rationality. It can make fuel control adjustment as long as it does not max out its fuel trim adjustment,if it exceeds this number (which is 10 %) it knows by rationality that the 02 sensor is too slow to make the proper adjustment and codes P1133. P1133 is a 02 sensor that is switching slow, when a 02 sensor degrades from mileage use it becomes bias, or slow to respond. Replace the 02 sensor. As long as there is a degraded 02 sensor , monitor will not get in the ready no matter how far you drive, P1133 is a important code condition it is capable of suspending any other code until this is corrected.
