I have a Mercedes 2006 c230, the car was just working perfect I really take care of my car but few days ago while I was waiting on a stop then when I started to drive all of the sudden I lost acceleration and my transmission locked up and won't shift it was like being in neutral, I turn off the car and turn it back on and it shifted to 2nd or reverse but that's about it then it locks up again then I notice the light saying to check engine. I talked to few mechanics and they think that I need a new transmission but after doing some research through different scenarios I really believe that it might be something simple I never had any problems until this happened. I was reading about scenarios where reprogramming the computer on the car fixed the problem or by replacing the electronic conductor plate and a new plug for this took care of the problem. Can somebody tell me any other recommendation or a possible solution to my problem? I know if I send the car to a shop they will insist in replacing the transmission I need help.

P0730 Incorrect gear ratio

P0730 is a code that MBZ does not use,  The replacement of the electro-conductor plate is TSB S-27 00-120A this may be the reason, the problem that you describe is more of a VGS (Turbine speed sensor), The trouble code that is needed has to be what MBZ uses,
