My local mechanic ran a diagnostic test on my Ford f150 and found codes P0012 and P0022 at which point he reset the system and sent me on my way saying see how it runs. The check engine light came back on a short time later and knowing that I had an extended warranty on the vehicle he said I should go to ford because it would be an expensive fix. At the ford dealer they said the car had a code of 1000, and therefore they could not determine the cause of the problem. It was not until I was able to relay the codes that my mechanic provided me with that ford acknowledged that they too saw saw the same codes. They want to send me on my way without doing any corrective action. Doesn't the fact that these codes appear in the computer indicate what the problem is and shoudn't it point the way to corrective action?
both codes are related to bank 1 timing (see below for possible causes)
the biggest problem is reseting the code, the dealer has to see the code in order to do something.
just drive it until it happens again
