P1711 Ford - can this error prevent a car from starting?

I just had a transmission replaced (used). The car drove fine for a couple weeks after the work was done. Then one morning the car wouldn't start.

Vehicle: 1998, Mercury, Sable, 3.0

I dont think p1711 would give you a problem with starting. P1711 is for the transmission fluid temperature sensor
