I get error codes p0597 and p0598. They indicate an open heater circuit on the thermostat. Will replacing the thermostat take care of the problem? If not, what needs to be done?

For your 09 Aveo, the thermostat it's more than likely the cause of the P0597 and P0598 code. The heater part of the thermostat probably failed. For your Aveo the thermostat is part of the thermostat housing.
