2002 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0L with engine code P0301. How do I stop the misfire?

Hi there,

There can be several reasons for this code. A bad spark plug, ignition coil, intake manifold gasket leak are the most common. A single cylinder misfire like this shouldn't cause a no start condition however.
