Hi - I have a 2005 Ford Explorer. Transmission fluid leaked caused black smoke during driving on freeways. Technician told us that the torque converter and transmission pump need to be replaced. They took a week to replace them, flushed and refilled the transmission fluid. I was not sure they have tested it after the repair. But I drove it and felt the gear switch was not smooth and different than before repair. While after waited for a traffic signal, pressed the gas padal a bit more to speed up, the message 'check transmission' displayed in message center and 'O/D OFF' light was blinking and battery light blinked. Pulled over and stopped engine. Restarted engine after 5 mins, no light/message on the board. Drove to one ford dealer and left the vehicle there. They tested and told the batter light was back on, they got P0732 code after connected to computer. They told that there was a close out inside the transmission and needs over haul or replacement of transmission. We doubt the conclusion they have made us. The transmission was in good condition before the repair. We really doubt the problem it's showing now must relate to the torque converter and pump been replaced. We are not expert and hope can get expertise to help us with a sound diagnosis. Appreciate!
