the people that checked the check engine light said that i needed an electric throttle control actuator and it would have to go to the dealer and i was wondering was there anything else that i could try first cause when they tell you that you have to go to the dealer you think $

P0420 means that the catalytic converter is not working properly. Usually the catalytic converter need to be replaced to repair the problem.

The P0507 means that the engine idle is too high, but probably it just need to clean the throttle body and adjust the engine idle. No need to go to the dealer for that, but you may have to have a shop with experience clean the throttle body.
