what code comes up when the gas cap is not tightened properly?

The service engine soon light came on after they did the e check at an oil change place. I have put the cap on properly and some have told me that it may reset itself after 3 or 4 restarts. Is this true?

Before replacing any parts you should check for engine codes. Without the code you will be just guessing what the problem is. Although the gas cap problem is very common, there are many other components that can make the engine light come on.
