It says that the coded is the over drive band failed and I wanted to know how to fix it and what does that code mean p1762

Vehicle: 1998 ford explorer 4.0 v6

P1762 Overdrive band failed / off

What this means is there is no 2nd gear and no overdrive or 5th gear.For the fix you will ned a seperator plate and a valve body.
