I have a P0089 and a P2293 code. I have pulled the high pressure fuel pump and replaced the cam fallower (it was worn concave, but not destroyed, the cam had normal wear, and plunger tip on the pump and inside of the fallower looked fine). Test drove for 15 miles and was ok. On next drive the check engine light came back on. The symptom other than the check engine light is that it will intermitently go into a depowered limp in mode while driving. You can turn the engine off and back on and it will run ok again.

Vehicle: '06 Volkswagen Passatt, 2.0LT, direct inject gas, auto.
