P1340 Sensing module cylinder ID fault (cylinder synchronization fails)

The PCM detectes faults that prevents synchronization such as shorted sparkplug wire ,and yes the EGR being open that causes the misfire, This as long as there is no misfire code that is present,

It's very unlikely that replacing the EGR will cause the P1340 code, but you should check the items you removed in order to replaced the EGR valve.
