P0708 2001 Ford crown victoria

This is a 2001 ford crown victoria LX that is backfiring and showing a "check engine" and a P0708 code. The engine shakes sometimes and also the car doesn't move as quickly as you press on the gas pedal.

P0708 Transmission range sensor circuit high input

This is a PRNDL failure, a replacement is required, for P0708, But what is doesnt do is create a misfire where the engine shakes and doesnt move quickly, what you also have is a misfire,replace sparkplug wires and sparkplug, check the sparkplug well , make sure water or coolant has not entered into it.
