how long does an AC evaporator part of AC condenser typically last for

I have a 2010Nissan Rogue the my ac stop working took it in they told me I need to replace the Evaporator because it was leaking at a price of $1579 this problem happens just when my basic coverage expires 36/36000 miles I have about 20,200 miles on my car I believe the AC went out during the winter but I did not know that until we got some hots days in April turned my ac on and got nothing but hot air December is when my basic warranty expires this car was purchased brand new it seems crazy that my AC would go out in three years

The evaporator is leaking??, 3 year that to soon,sometime the Evaporator outlast the car, you can get another opinion.

Thanks I have a nissan customer service tech call me yesterday since we called them head number to plea out case that this does not sound right for the part to go bad this soon and that I was 3 months out of warranty for this to happen it had to have happen during the winter when I would not have known it. So the senior tech person suppose to be calling the dealership to discuss this and getting back to me by friday thank you for your comment.
