I bought the car from an auction on 3/7/13 .my tachometer has gone to zero 3 times in the past week and the service engine soon light turned on 2 days after the car was purchased. the code stated it needed a front manifold catalytic converter as well as an evap canister and valve. Also I have read that there have been recalls for this model, is there a way to find out if the car was checked by the previous owner for these issues?

Vehicle: 2003 nissan sentra limited edition 2.5

Contact the dealer with the VIN, they can run it through the computer to find out if the recalls have been done. If the cam or crank sensors fail, then the car will stall. If you lost the tach reading it is likely the cam sensor has failed.
