How dangerous is it to drive with this engine code?

Vehicle: 2006 Toyota Carolla LE 1.8L

This code is for a bad converter. Typically what is happening is the converter is not adding enough O2 to the exhaust stream and the rear O2 sensor.Normally a new converter is required to resolve the code.
