If you have a leak any place in the evap system , will set a code for that. So check everything leak wise first. Then you can go check sensors, cuz they fail less then age on cars for rusty lines, and things going brittle ..All cars 1998 and down.
What I did is pulled off one of the evap hoses and fitted a pump to it, pressurized it and listen to hear leaks. I found 2 leaks in 4 min. My fuel pipe filler neck was cracked from age and high heat in AZ for a year. Now living in CA. passed emissions and holds pressure.
