There are three signal wires from the transmission pressure switch: A, B and C. High=battery voltage, low=open circuit or 0 volts. Signal line A is high for all normal conditions. A low (voltage level) gives fault code P0842.

Check all wires and connectors before you start messing with the transmission. The Pressure switch is part of the valve plate which is inside the end cover and a mess to access. Check the connectors at transmission and transmisson control module (mounted on side of battery box) for any oxidized contacts (sometimes just removing and reinstalling connectors cleans them enough to make it work but a good contact cleaner like DeOxit is a good idea).  Wires that have damaged insulation from chafing or cracked conductors from movement (tension or vibraton) should be repaired.
