Toyota Dealer tolds me that the Transmission have to be rebuilded for $2,500.

But my Mechanic says that I can Change the Selenoid and the Transmission Oil and probably the problem will be solved, and is less cost.

The transmission oil color is dark brown and feels dyrty. Sometimes when Im driving normal, I feel like a little aceleration on the vehicle, is rare but I feel it sometimes.

The car is whithout warranty on the Toyota Dealer, my milleage is 99,100 aprox.

Can this recomendation of my Mechanic solve the problem??? :(

Vehicle: 2005 Toyota Corolla

When the dealer rebuilds the transmission they replace a lot of selenoids and clutchs, so its as good as new.

But when you can have that one selenoid replaced and later something else can go wrong and the transmission has to come out again and you have to spend more money on it again.

if its going to cost $500 total to get the selenoid replaced at the mechanic shop, I would say its worth it. if its more than that and you are going to keep the car for years to come, have the whole thing rebuilt and have peace of mind
