Question

if my nissan sentra is showing both generic code 0031 and specific code 1148, what would the next step i should take in checking this heater o2 sensor?  should i just try replacing the sensor?

You should start by checking the connector. If the connector is OK then you may have to replaced the sensor. What year is your Sentra? We can post that location of the sensor for you can provide the year.
