P0008 code on 2008 Cadillac CTS

2008 Cadillac CTS all wheel drive -
My mechanic tells me that my engine light is on because of this P0008 code. Performance is poor. I understand many other cadillac CTS owners are experiencing this same problem. Is anyone able to give an update or information on how to get GM to order a recall?
