2000 Chevrolet Venture 3.4L with engine code P0440, what is the fix?

This is a catch all code so to speak. It means the computer see's a problem with the evap emissions system, however it can't tell which part is not working. Typically the best approach with this code is to have a smoke test performed to try and find a leak. Best place to start however is with a gas cap, sometimes they will be the source of the leak.
