I have a 2004 Explorer. The transmission will not engage. Got code P1717.

I have a 2004 Explorer. The transmission will not engage. At first it would not engage in reverse so I replaced the fluid filter and the fluid. Now it won't engage in reverse or drive. I had a neighbor put his code reader on it and it came back with a P1717-SSD Inductive signature malfunction. Does anyone have some possible steps I can take to rectify this?

Vehicle: 2004, Ford, Explorer 4.0 liter V6
