I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0L 6 Cyl. with code P1401, what does the code mean?

Hi there,

This code is for the DPFE sensor on the egr system If you look at the tube coming to the egr valve you will find the sensor, take it off and tap it, if you get water out of it, then it's no good and should be replaced. If you tap it and no water, then check the tube itself, it may be blocked with carbon and causing the code.
