What engine size is your Terrain? Here is the location of the Camshaft Position Sensor on a Terrain with a 3.0L engine.

Keep in mind that there are four (4) Camshaft Position Sensors on the 2011 GMC Terrain with 3.0L engine and that there are other components that could set the P0017 code, like the Variable Valve Timing Control Solenoid and the Engine Timing Chain.
