The SES of my 2005 Nissan Sentra lit up and I found the code to P1279. I read that its a faulty/dirty Mass Air Flow Sensor. Does it have to be replaced or looked into right away? What are the consequences of ignoring it for the time being? The car drives fine for now and I wouldn't want it to stall while I'm driving.

Any insight into the matter will help. Thanks in advance.

The P1279 is not for the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is for the Air Fuel Ratio sensor.

P1279 = https://www.autocodes.com/p1279_nissan.html

If you don't replace the sensor, it may cause poor fuel mileage and it will fail the emission test, but it will not caused the engine to stall.
