2001 I30 infinity wont start

2001 I30 infinity, just rebuilt transmission and have had issues with it ever since. One day it would not start all lights come on but no start until the next day, I drove it about a week and now it wont start again all lights on and battery is maybe 6 months old but wont start can smell a little gas while driving. The code that came up is p0420 help please cant start the car!

A bad starter could be causing the no start problem. The P0420 code it's probably not related to the no start problem.
