What part needs to be replaced when code P0401 appears?

On my 1996 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1L, what part needs to be replaced when code P0401 appears?

Hi there,

This code is for the egr. Many times when this code appears, the egr valve is not the issue, but rather the tube going to the egr is plugged or the vacuum solenoid that provides vacuum to pull the egr is the problem. I would check these prior to simply replacing the egr valve.
