I have a service engine soon light on while driving and the only code that keeps coming up is P1777.

A dealership nearby said they would have to change the EGR valve which has the stepper motor. But another shop says the stepper motor is different from the EGR valve and I would need a transmission shop to take out the valve body to get to the stepper motor. Is this something that can be remedied with just replacing the stepper motor or is this a deeper issue?

Hi there

This code is for an issue with the stepper motor in the transmission, not the EGR valve.

The stepper has to be tested and if it's found to pass the tests, this will usually mean the cvt has to be replaced.
