What is common fix for P0172 fault on VW Golf 2001 model.

check the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator, could also be a leaking purge solenoid (N80), or a faulty fuel pressure regulator, you'll need a fuel pressure guage to check pressures and operation of the regulator, start with the vacuum line though.
