P2181 pending code 3 times after being fixed

Have a p 2181 cooling system performance code had it fixed in july they said it was a coolant temp sensor got my car back after that code was clear kept poping up with p 171 system to lean code took it to dealer it p171 code was for a slit in vaccum hose that code has gone away but since at the dealer the p2181 has come back with a pending code and not as an actual fault.. And no cel..when the p2181 was on it illuminated the check engine light..after being fixed it never came back again even as pending..the dealer was very shady and i beleive hooked up several of there obd readers.. Could they have done something to make the p2181 show back up as pending...these are a couple months in between the p 2181 never showed back up as pending till they did something with the other code
