Can P0721 code disable the transmission itself?

Question

The transmission pan is leaking fluid because something punctured it.

P0721 is the output speed sensor , just by having lose of transmission fluid itself will cause the transmission to not go anywhere and you can ruin the transmiossion , If it was not for the transmission leak and you have a faulty output speed sensor there will be no gear change, It will go but there is no gear change
